Wastewater treatment is vital to a healthful environment especially in urban environments. The law firm McKechnie & Company was hired by the city of Pittsburg, Kansas to buttress their support for an updated wastewater treatment plant, estimated to cost around forty million USD. The city is set to receive a 3.5 million USD federal grant to assist in constructing a new wastewater treatment facility. The current facility was constructed in 1952 and was not designed to handle the present capacity. It treats both domestic and industrial waste, discharging into Cow Creek a navigable waterway under the authority of the Clean Water Act.

“Our wastewater treatment plant Is struggling, it’s overworked, so we have a plan,” notes Holmes. “We have an engineer hired to design a new, $40 million wastewater treatment plant and we hope to break ground within the next couple of years.” Quentin Holmes is the Director of Community Development and Housing.

The law firm McKechnie & Company has only represented two clients this year with the first being Pittsburg State University. In 2021 they represented five clients for a profit of 285,000 USD. Edward McKechnie is the former chairman of the Kansas Board of Regents and also served ten years as a state representative. Currently working as a consultant and lobbyist, it is fair to say McKechnie’s political experience has proven useful to his success in the lobbying realm.

A Lobbying Data Pro plan is also available for purchase that connects lobbying contracts to stock market tickers providing an innovative source of alternative data completely new to the market. It has already been used in many applications, from academic research to quantitative finance, trading, and equity research.

There are five lobbyists working on this contract, all of which have prior government experience. In the context of lobbying data, these lobbyists have submitted their “covered positions” publicly in the lobbying report.

Founder, Neil Bhatia, has big plans for LobbyingData’s future, including a historical database to uncover company actions in lobbying from 1999 to present day. LobbyingData continues to find new ways to provide accessibility and transparency into the lobbying industry.
