Jerusalem. August 9th 2001. 122 people were injured and 15 lost their lives when a suicide bomber attacked. Among the dead were two Americans, one just a fifteen year old girl named Malki Roth. The law firm Proskauer Rose LLP was hired to support to extradition of Ahlam al-Tamimi, the individual held responsible for choosing the suicide bomber’s target location. The family of the victim have been fighting for the extradition of al-Tamimi since she was released by the Israeli government in 2011 as part of a prison swap with Hamas.. al-Tamimi presently resides in Jordan. She was charged by the United States in 2013 with conspiracy to use weapons of mass destruction against American nationals. Despite an American-Jordanian extradition treaty, al-Tamimi’s extradition to the United States was blocked in 2017by the high court. The Roth family has called on United States authorities to press Jordan who receives billions of USD in aid annually.
Hoping to speak with President Biden in July of 2022, the Roth family made the following statement: “We ask that you address this as only the leader of the United States can. We are bereaved parents as you are, sir. We have a burning sense that injustice in the wale of our child’s murder is winning.”
