Now public law, H.R. 2471 the Consolidated Appropriations Act, covers a broad spectrum of areas, but it can be subdivided into three main parts. First, the bill provides appropriations to federal agencies to fund them for the remainder of 2022. The includes the Department of Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, the Legislative Branch Appropriations Act, and the Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act to name a few. Secondly, the bill provides funding to federal agencies to assist Ukraine by allocating funding for emergency food assistance, refugee and migration assistance, and through economic assistance. Specifically, the bill addresses several immigration-related authorities and programs as well as reauthorizes the authority of the Department of Health and Human Services to make certain appointments for the National Disaster Medical Systems. Finally, the bill has several provisions that address a wide swatch of programs including Medicare, Medicaid, and other health programs, the EB-5 immigrant investor visa program, and the regulation of synthetic nicotine.

The second bill being lobbied for is H.R. 851, known as the Future Advancement of Academic Nursing Act (FAAN). It authorizes the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to award grants to nursing students to increase overall capacity to respond to a public health emergency or pandemic. In awarding said grants, priority is given to historically black colleges and universities as well as other minority-serving institutions and schools in areas with a medically underserved community.
